Carthy’s Bar is a real gem beside the bridge in Leitrim Village. It is situated on the banks of the Shannon-Erne Waterway – the very first pub on the canal with the Shannon at its rear. The pub was chosen as one of the top 5 pubs in the country by “The Sunday World” newspaper a few years ago. It is a popular stop for cruisers on the waterway from all parts of Ireland, Europe and further afield. It is also a haven for party groups from the holiday cottages across the road. Party food and live music is available. Live music is also available every weekend throughout the year. Barbeques are available, weather permitting. The bar itself has many unique features including a bar counter in the shape of a boat and a real stone fireplace. SKY and Setanta Sports are available on a large pull down screen. The bar is also known as Lock 17 due to the fact that there are 16 locks on the canal with your final stop at the “17th Lock”.
