ABOUT US
The Olde Castle Bar is an atmospheric Hostelry dating back centuries. This unique traditional pub is a landmark building in the centre of the gateway and historical seaside town of Donegal.
Located just off the Diamond, under the shadow of Donegal Castle, the home of the last of the great Irish Chieftains, Red Hugh O'Donnell (1575 - 1602).
This family run pub/restaurant is extremely popular with both locals and visitors alike. The rear of this historic building once housed the stables of the O'Donnell Chiefs, whose residence was the castle opposite the bar.
Located upstairs, over the popular bar and looking out on the ruins of O'Donnell's Castle, the restaurant is named after one of the town's most illustrious ancestors, Red Hugh Restaurant.
The bar and restaurant is run by the O'Toole family. Specialising in the freshest fish, shellfish, steaks and lamb available. The team at the "Olde Castle" were delighted to be recognised in their 1st season by Georgina Campbell in her prestigious independent "Guide to Dining Out 2009".
