Michael and Carol Ryan purchased a premises at Market Square Scariff County Clare known as Leonards. This was originally a bar and tailors shop. It had ceased trading as a bar in 1965 the licenses were sold and continued trading as a tailors mostly doing alterations. When Mr. and Mrs. Leonard had passed away there son Paddy put the premises up for sale.
The premises was then reopened as a fruit and vegetable shop ran by Ann and Dan Herwich. When they finished trading it was under the name Mileys and ran by Mary and Vincent Williams.
Next door to Leonards was the original Paddy Ryans Bar which traded with a 6 day license, Sunday being the closed day. Another license came on the market in Scariff, owned by Michael Flannery trading as May Coffeys it was also a 6 day license. Michael and Carol purchased this license and exchanged 6 day licenses for a 7 seven day license.
Planning was obtained for a Bar and Lounge with a Restaurant upstairs. John Counihan undertook the construction and began in 1991. The official opening was on St.Patricks day 1993.
