The Red House is a traditional bar with a back lounge. It has a stove and open fire place. It is one of the most distinctive buildings in Lismore dating back past 1825. The Red has a sporting history being involved with the local GAA and soccer teams.4
Lismore is a heritage town with historic roots of over a thousand years. Sir Walter Raleigh built Lismore Castle which overlooks the town and the Blackwater famous for its salmon fishing. Robert Boyle, the scientist, was born in Lismore Castle. The Vikings also came to loot Lismore and kept coming back probably for the Carlsberg.
Eamon Dé Valera gave a speech outside the Red using one of the bar tables as his platform. The Red House has a name for where there are no strangers only people that have yet to meet. The mix of people that have visited the Red has brought the local characters in sharing stories with visitors from all over the globe giving the visitor the real Irish pub experience. In its time, the Red House has had its own version of Four Weddings and a Funeral. We have had a stage production by a Waterford play group that brought eighty people in for a local charity. We have a smoking area at the rear of the bar that is covered with an outside heater. The bar has an upstairs room used for local meetings and family parties up to fifty people. The bar has a pub dart team that plays during the winter months. The bar has a 37" TV which has Sky Sports 1, 2 & 3 plus Setanta Sports and The Racing Channel. The bar has broadband and phone top-up's can also be got on the E-box which provides great entertainment on quite nights. Quiz nights are also held which are done in a fun way for all customers to enjoy. Bar food is available seven days a week up to 9.00pm
