About Us
The Sportsmans has been a welcome food stop for commuters on the Dublin/Belfast Road for many years. Our roadhouse style menu provides for freshly prepared food and our steaks and grills are renowned for their quality and generous portions. Once owned by the famous show jumping and football family, The Kernans, The Sportsmans was named after “Sportsman” a classy show jumper sold to David Broom, the world-renowned British rider. Testament to our good food is the large number of coach parties who visit – particularly race goers, rugby and football clubs and shoppers. Our meals are reasonably priced and offer good value with a wide range in price and choice. All food supplies are sourced locally and only prime Irish beef, lamb and pork are used. Our vegetables are freshly prepared in-house and even young children ask their parents to dine at the Sportsmans because the chips are so tasty!! You are assured of a warm welcome, quick service, excellent food and you can chill out away from the bustle of urban life. The first thing new visitors to the Sportsmans will discover is the large car park where you can park in comfort. We also have an outdoor children’s playground where children can enjoy the swings and slides allowing parents the chance to relax. Food is served all day in the bar commencing with breakfast at 10.00am until 12.30pm when lunch begins. At 3.00pm we switch over to an extensive A La Carte menu where you can choose from soup and a sandwich to a luxurious fillet steak. Our dining room is more formal and is popular for family Sunday lunch, christenings or indeed any occasion where a little more privacy or intimacy is desired. Our bar and function room (seats 60) are very popular venues for 21st parties, anniversaries, coach parties etc.
